Nobody expected a hamburger to change so many lives.
At Conway Animal Services, in Arkansas, a volunteer decided to do something simple: buy a hamburger for every dog waiting to be adopted. They recorded the moment without thinking about anything other than sharing it. Tails wagging nonstop, ears perked up, eyes shining at the sight of a bun with meat as if it were the first feast of their lives.
The video filled up with comments from people asking how to donate and from other shelters wanting to repeat the gesture. But what no one imagined was the ending: every one of those dogs that appears happily chewing its hamburger ended up finding a family.
Sometimes all it takes is a small gesture and a camera at just the right moment for the whole world to stop and look at those who are seen the least.
