Frederico Hill was standing in line to buy fried chicken when he overheard something that wasn’t directed at him, but was about him.
A woman right behind him kept telling her complaining son that he could only eat one piece “or he’d end up as fat as the uncle across from them”. She said it loudly enough for him to hear. Hill didn’t turn around. He didn’t respond. He simply asked the employee whether that displayed chicken was all they had left. When they confirmed that the next batch would take 30 minutes, he paid about 17 dollars and took the remaining 15 pieces.
The woman had to explain to her son why there was nothing left to buy, while the boy continued protesting. Hill shared the whole story on Facebook, and the post racked up more than 6.500 reactions and 3.000 shares. It’s not the only time this has happened: Vega Blossom had a similar experience and responded by buying all the cupcakes at a bakery after a similar comment. Sometimes the best response is simply to leave the other person empty-handed.
