She did so believing that she was sacrificing herself for her family, but ended up discovering that it had all been a betrayal.
The case took place in Howrah, in the Indian state of West Bengal. According to the complaint, the woman had been pressuring her husband for nearly a year to sell one of his kidneys, promising that the money would be used to improve the family’s financial situation and pay for the education of their 12-year-old daughter.
The man eventually agreed and, after finding a buyer, received around 10 lakh rupees for the organ. After the surgery, he returned home to recover, and his wife even asked him to rest and avoid going out so he could heal faster.
But shortly afterward, she disappeared. The husband discovered that the money was also missing and began searching for her with relatives and friends. They finally located her living with another man, whom she had reportedly met on Facebook approximately a year earlier.
When the husband, his daughter, and other relatives went to confront her, she refused to speak with them and, according to reports, announced that she would seek a divorce. The man filed a complaint, and the police opened an investigation into what had happened.
He sold a kidney thinking he was securing his daughter’s future and ended up losing both the money and his marriage within days.
