The body scanner flagged something suspicious in her chest, and TSA agents in Miami thought of anything but what they actually found.
They were two live turtles, wrapped in gauze and plastic, hidden inside the bra of a passenger who was trying to take them onto her flight without anyone noticing. The officers, caught between surprise and disbelief, could only wonder why anyone would try something like that in the middle of a security screening.
One of the turtles did not survive the journey. The other was handed over to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which will take care of it. The TSA took advantage of the case, which occurred in April but was only revealed in July, to ask passengers for something that should be obvious: stop hiding animals in strange places on your body.
Safe airport, yes, but apparently nothing surprises Miami agents anymore. 🐢✈️
