Trinity Lugo was just doing her job. The videographer from Trinity Films was preparing a marriage proposal with a photographer for a Latino couple at a park in Laguna Beach, California, with live mariachi music for the big surprise.

Then a woman who says she lives nearby showed up. First, she asked them to take everything down. She claimed the park is “for people who live here, who enjoy the park and have picnics”, that this happens every weekend, and that she was fed up. According to Lugo, the tone changed just after the mariachi started playing: the racist comments came out of nowhere. In the video, the woman says she is Mexican too, that “this isn’t Mexico either”, and ends by yelling “go back to Mexico”.

Lugo replied calmly: “We weren’t here last weekend”. According to the videographer, proposals aren’t prohibited in that park, and this one lasted less than 40 minutes. The woman claimed she had called the police and stayed to wait for them. When the crew finished and confronted her, telling her they had everything on video, she left. Meanwhile, the proposal went well and the shot was captured. The video, posted on October 2, has already racked up between 650.000 and nearly 900.000 likes on Instagram.
