Security cameras at the cemetery on the Katy Freeway, near North Eldridge Parkway in Houston, Texas, recorded something few people could imagine: a woman systematically opening the glass panels that protect the urns with cremated remains inside the mausoleum, extracting the jewelry and other valuables that families had placed alongside their loved ones.

Authorities with Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office are investigating the case and searching for the suspect, described as a woman between 30 and 45 years old with tattoos on her back. Investigators say she could be linked to at least one other theft previously reported at the same cemetery, suggesting this was not an impulsive act but rather repeated and deliberate conduct against the same resting place.

What was stolen has no price on the market: they are irreplaceable keepsakes, a family’s last gesture of love toward someone who is no longer here. Authorities ask anyone who recognizes the suspect to contact Precinct 5 investigators. The case remains open.
