Sabine Tautou, a New York-based performance artist and dominatrix, left him immobilized in front of the Alexander Wang flagship store, with a luxury bag in his hands. Passersby pulled out their phones, and the Citizen app filled with alerts. She told TMZ that more than 50 people sent her screenshots, and it was the first of her performances to go viral on that platform, too.
But behind the spectacle was a plan. The piece was a collaboration with the brand to relaunch the Rocco bag, and Wang herself insisted that the design was never meant to be ‘polite’. Tautou, who has spent more than 13 years in the fetish art world, said this was the first time she had brought one of her public performances into a commercial partnership.
It wasn’t her first street scene: she had already tied a man to the Hollywood sign.
