A world champion fell asleep right in the middle of a World Cup match… and the camera caught him at the worst possible moment 👀😴

57th minute of the second half. Spain 4-0 Saudi Arabia. Gianni Infantino on one side, Fernando Hierro on the other, Míchel Salgado nearby. And Youri Djorkaeff, world champion with France in 1998 and official FIFA football adviser, fast asleep in the VIP box at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. 😴

DAZN’s cameras didn’t hesitate for a second: they left the field and went straight to the box. There was Djorkaeff, oblivious to the entire universe, head slumped and with the whole look of someone who has many World Cups on his shoulders and already knows how these matches end. The man has 82 caps for France and 28 goals in his career… but tonight sleep wins by a landslide. 🏆

It took seconds for the image to go viral. The comments were split between those who understood him perfectly (“with that scoreline I’d be asleep too”) and those who crowned the cameraman the true MVP of the tournament. Djorkaeff watched top-level football all his life… maybe that’s why nothing excites him as much anymore as a good nap. 😂
