This little dog didn’t ask for any of this. She only crossed a street in Puerto Montt, Chile, when a car hit her, leaving her dragging herself along the ground, with a serious fracture in her hindquarters and no feeling in her legs.
What happened next is what truly sparks outrage: according to the Patitas de Amor group, her own owner found out what had happened and, instead of helping her, asked for her to be taken away. Just like that, he left her to fend for herself. “The most terrible thing is that she had an owner, but he decided not to take responsibility”, the organization said.
It was a child who decided that the little dog deserved a chance and took on her case in an attempt to save her. But rescuing her isn’t enough: she now needs tests, hospitalization, and urgent treatment to recover from her serious injuries. While the volunteers take responsibility for her recovery, she remains in their care, waiting for a second chance after the person who was supposed to protect her decided to abandon her.
