Abigail Seymour was 47 and had a résumé that did not include the word ‘lawyer’.
She studied photography at NYU, got married, got divorced, and in 1994 moved to Spain to teach English. Two years later, she walked the 485 miles of the Camino de Santiago, alone, still not knowing what she was looking for.
The answer came late, or so she herself thought. At 47, she enrolled in law school convinced she was already too old to start something like that. She did it anyway.
Today, at 59, Seymour runs Camino Law, a bilingual law firm in North Carolina specializing in family law.
She leads it alongside seven women who work with her. She says her greatest pride is not the degree or the title: it is having created work for herself and for six other people.
Sometimes the second half of life is where the story truly begins.
