A study published in the scientific journal Nutrients analyzed young men in China and found that those who drank more sugary beverages, such as soda, sweetened juices, energy drinks, or sweetened tea/coffee, reported more male pattern hair loss.

The authors clarify that this does not prove that sugar causes baldness, but it does suggest that high consumption could worsen hair loss in people who are predisposed.

They also point out that factors such as genetics, anxiety, sleep, diet, and overall health remain important.
