Children can be very cruel. Suddenly they make fun of others without understanding what it means for the other person. Comments about someone’s physical appearance are an everyday thing in schools, and anyone with a flaw or particular feature can become the target of insults. That happened to Chilean actor Matías Assler. He has intensely blue eyes that do not go unnoticed.
Some time ago, the TV personality revealed intimate stories, and among them, one stood out quite a bit. “When I was a kid, having blue eyes wasn’t an asset and they called me ‘girl eyes, faggot face’, and when I was little I almost thought it was something bad. I used to say ‘everyone picks on me’… I suffered for many years because of that”.
He also said that when he got home, his mother comforted him and told him: “It’s pure envy, one day you’ll realize it”. She was a support during that time in his life.
“And on the other hand, when we talked about school, I remember that it was very hard for me when we did plays by Juan Radrigán and I would say ‘which one am I here, where does my physical appearance fit within Chilean theater, if I have blue eyes and I’ve been picked on my whole life’“, he said.
Matías was finally able to confirm the words of his beloved mother: it was all out of envy. Today he is a successful actor, with a beautiful family and projects that inspire and motivate thousands.
