The filming secrets of classic suspense films once again sparked debate among fans of the genre because of the extreme production conditions implemented on set.

For Candyman, released in 1992, director Bernard Rose ruled out the use of digital effects and preferred to use 200.000 live bees during filming. Lead actor Tony Todd agreed to place the insects in his oral cavity using only a dental guard to protect his throat.

The artist, who died at 69 years of age in November 2024, stated that he received a 1.000-dollar bonus for each sting.
