Adriana Jimenez was 22, had a 6-year-old daughter, and had a baby on the way at 16 weeks.
On August 23, at around 8 in the morning, she was behind the wheel of her car in an alley in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, waiting to park alongside her sister, Maria Fernanda.

They had finished their shift as cooks at a Thai restaurant and had just gone out with some cousins. According to police, a man approached the car and opened fire.

Adriana was shot in the head. Her sister was shot twice: one bullet passed through her neck, but she is expected to recover.

Adriana was declared brain-dead and spent 12 days on life support. On Friday, September 4, her family had to say goodbye. According to her uncle, the baby died too. She would have turned 23 on September 11, and she had planned a gender reveal for her baby that same day. Today, her family is asking for help to bring her to El Salvador, her homeland. Her little girl, her uncle says, keeps calling for her mom and crying for her.
