Nelly didn’t tell her he was coming. He stopped by the drive-through where his mother worked, pulled up to the window, and asked her to come with him. There, he told her she could quit: she had been working in the fast-food industry for more than 30 years.
The singer recalled the moment while speaking with Scott Evans and Kit Hoover of Access Daily. He said it was the first thing he did after achieving success in music and that it’s one of his best memories.
“I didn’t tell her I was coming. I just stopped by the drive-through and pulled up to the window… I said, ‘Hey, you should come with me. You can quit.’ And that’s basically the best memory I have, being able to show up at her job and tell her she doesn’t have to work there anymore”, he said.
