Actress Hannah Murray, remembered for her roles in Skins and Game of Thrones, made an impact by revealing the traumatic episode she went through after becoming involved in a spiritual wellness sect.

In her new book The Make-Believe: A Memoir of Magic and Madness, she said that it all began in 2017 while she was filming the movie Detroit, when she started attending “energy healing” sessions that ended up seriously affecting her mental health.

According to her account, she came to suffer a psychotic episode in which she believed she was “the savior of the planet” and ended up being hospitalized under the British Mental Health Act. The actress also confessed that during that period she carried out extreme acts convinced that they were part of spiritual rituals.

Today, Murray says she decided to speak publicly about what happened to warn about the dangers of certain wellness groups and to raise awareness of severe mental illnesses.
