“I felt like a stranger in my own home” At 54, Pam Andras thought a baby would complete her life, but reality was a devastating blow of alcoholism and lack of connection. 😱💔

Society often celebrates “miracle pregnancies” or motherhood later in life as a triumph of science and willpower. However, Pam Andras, a woman who decided to become a mother at 54 through surrogacy, shows her disagreement based on her own experience.

“No one speaks frankly about what it means to be an ‘older’ mother”

After a long and costly process, Pam welcomed her baby. But instead of the fulfillment she expected, she found herself facing an insurmountable emotional barrier. Not having carried the child herself, Pam confesses that she was unable to form an emotional bond with him. 🍼💔

The pressure of being a “perfect mother” at an age when her friends were already grandmothers, combined with the extreme physical exhaustion of caring for a newborn at 54, led Pam to begin drinking excessively.

Today, Pam is in recovery, trying to rebuild her life and finally learn to connect with her son.

Pam Andras’s case has sparked a storm on social media. On one side are those who empathize with her honesty and criticize the social pressure placed on women. On the other, fierce criticism arises: Is it ethical to bring a child into the world at an age when physical energy is limited?
