Germany thrashed Curaçao 7-1 in a match that seemed destined to be remembered only for the result. However, a scene that took place after the final whistle ended up stealing all the attention.

German footballers Jonathan Tah and Félix Nmecha met at the center of the pitch alongside several Curaçao players. There they embraced and said a prayer together.

When asked about that moment, Nmecha explained the meaning of the gesture with a phrase that went viral: “In the game we are opponents, but after that we are all brothers”.

A message that many consider an example of football’s noblest values.
