Aileen Wuornos was born on February 29, 1956, in Rochester, United States. Her mother was only 16 when she gave birth to her, and when Aileen was little, she left her and her brother in the care of their grandparents. She never knew her father and, years later, said that her grandfather beat and sexually abused her.
At 14, she became pregnant and gave her son up for adoption. Shortly afterward, she dropped out of school and was kicked out of the house. With nowhere to live, she ended up sleeping rough and prostituting herself to survive.

In 1986, she met Tyria Moore, a woman with whom she began a relationship that seemed to give her the emotional stability she had never had. But between 1989 and 1990, Aileen murdered seven men in Florida. She was convicted of six of those murders; one of the victims, Peter Siems, was never found.
The most shocking part came during the investigation: Tyria agreed to cooperate with the police in exchange for immunity. Investigators asked her to call Aileen repeatedly and plead with her to confess so she could clear her name.

The conversations were recorded. Finally, Aileen admitted to the murders, although she insisted she had acted in self-defense.
The woman with whom she had shared her life ultimately played a key role in bringing her to justice. Aileen was executed in 2002, at the age of 46. A story marked by abandonment, violence, and a betrayal that changed her fate forever.
