Mark Davidson Jacildo was born in the Philippines with macrodactyly, a condition that caused his hands to grow and become deformed, and that can make some everyday tasks difficult.

They are more than ten times the usual size: the left weighs 7 kilograms and the right, 2. Carrying them around is a physical challenge, but that’s not the whole story.

When his daughter, Katherine Ray, takes a nap, Jacildo uses his hands as a pillow; and when they go out together, he sometimes turns them into an umbrella for her. The same hands that are part of his daily challenges also play a role in his care as a father: they support his daughter’s naps and accompany her when they go out.
