An Australian surfer came away with a pretty unusual souvenir after encountering a shark about three meters long off Cheynes Beach in Western Australia: a huge bite mark on his board.
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Dale Kittow was surfing about 150 meters offshore when he saw the animal, which came straight toward him. Realizing the shark was going to attack, he put his board between them, and the animal ended up sinking its teeth into the tail, ripping off a piece.

Kittow managed to stay on his board and caught the next wave to get back to the beach without being injured. Later, he even recovered the piece the shark had torn off.
The bite left its mark on the board as a pretty hard-to-top souvenir: literally, it bears the teeth marks of the shark that tried to take it from him.
