An employee suffers a mental breakdown and ends up crying on the floor after handling more than 100 orders alone at a fried chicken chain in China

No one came to replace his coworker that night.

The young man, new to the job, was left alone frying, seasoning, and packing orders at a Bùkě Zhájī chain store in Longhua District, Shenzhen, China. The store needed two people on shift that night of August 10, 2026, but he was the only one there when more than 100 orders came in all at once. He cried while continuing to cook without stopping, until his body said enough: he fell to the floor convulsing, a condition doctors linked to hyperventilation caused by an anxiety crisis.

What happened next is what made the video go viral. The delivery drivers waiting for their orders did not pressure him or complain: they asked him to calm down, not to cry, and to take his time. The company says it sent staff immediately and that the young man recovered without serious aftereffects. The district union confirmed that the owner paid him his wages and that he found another job on his own.

The chain has more than 600 locations in China and promotes that it only needs two or three employees to operate each one. A lawyer consulted by local media noted that the company may have failed to reinforce staffing in response to the increase in orders, opening the door to liability for a workplace accident.
