The explanation is pure chance: the distribution of black pigment settled into such an exact pattern that it drew those expressive lines above its eyes. The result is an expression of eternal worry, as if it carried all the problems in the world on those whiskers.
The photos spread by the millions on social media, and it is not hard to understand why: there is something deeply funny about an animal that seems to be silently judging you all the time without having moved a single muscle. Genetics, sometimes, has a better sense of humor than we do.
