Henry Gibbs, a fishing content creator from New Zealand, suffered a severe shark bite during his first dive in Fiji. The attack affected his right leg and resulted in hospitalization, 4 surgeries, and a skin graft.

What was most surprising came afterward. Although he came close to losing his leg, Henry did not blame the animal. His statement was direct: “I was in its environment”. He also acknowledged that he was hunting for food and that the noise from the boat or the spearguns may have influenced the moment.
Two friends quickly pulled him out of the water and took him to receive care. Days later, he thanked everyone for the support he received and said he felt fortunate to retain mobility in his foot. The scar will be significant, but his message was not about fear or revenge against the shark 🦈
