Andy Detwiler was two years old when he fell into a grain auger on his family’s farm in Ohio. He lost both arms that day.
What came next seems like something out of another story: he learned to do everything with his feet. Not just simple tasks, but driving tractors, repairing machinery, and running an entire farm for decades. He documented his routine on the channel The Harmless Farmer, which surpassed 130,000 subscribers, people who watched his videos not out of morbid curiosity, but because Andy conveyed something few people manage: calm in the face of the impossible.
He died in 2022, at the age of 52, from complications related to cancer. His community in West Liberty did not want to let him go entirely: they raised funds and in 2024 unveiled a bronze statue nearly 4 meters tall, with his bare feet out front, just as everyone remembers him. Never give up, he always said. Now that phrase is cast in metal, in the middle of the fields he never stopped working.
