“Apologize to Cristiano? Apologies for what?”. That was Jorge Jesus’s blunt response 🎙️
Portugal’s head coach didn’t back down. He said the problem stemmed from Cristiano Ronaldo warming up to come on and that he takes full responsibility for the decision not to send him onto the pitch. And he denied rumors that he would apologize to the star after the press conference: “they’re lies, why would I?”.
But he left the door open: if CR7 wants to return to the national team, he has no problem with that. That said, he warned that “the situation at the next call-up will be the same as at the first one” and that it’s up to Cristiano to decide what he wants for his life.
