Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone spent years trading blows in action movies and ended up in the same hospital: both had shoulder surgery, one right after the other

On February 8, 2012, Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a photo. In it, he was lying in a hospital bed. And beside him, in another bed, was Sylvester Stallone.

Arnold was 64. Sly, 65. Both were going under the knife for the same thing: a worn-out shoulder.

“After all the action, stunts, and physical punishment of filming The Expendables 2 and The Last Stand, it was time for a tune-up on my shoulder”, Arnold wrote. “Look who happened to be waiting in line behind me.”

Two men who for decades were synonymous with muscle, explosions, and fists. And there they were, waiting their turn like anyone else.

Arnold ended with a promise: they would be ready for another round when they filmed The Tomb, the movie they were going to star in together.

Years later, Stallone said that the encounter happened “by accident”.

Maybe that’s why the photo is still around. Action heroes wear out too, and still they come back. 🎬
