Father Adrian returned to the altar with his head bandaged.

Two days after the knife attack at the Benedictine monastery in Jarosław, Poland, he celebrated Saturday Mass. One priest had died and four other people had been injured.

“As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I want to say on behalf of myself, Marek, and Stanisław that we forgive. Let us not repay evil with evil; we forgive and ask for prayers for our attacker”, he said.

He also said: “We must overcome the evil that happened at our abbey with love and forgiveness”.

His homily also included an appeal not to blame the Ukrainian people for the acts of one person.

The bandage was still there; his words, however, reached beyond the wound.
