Four shots fired in the middle of the street. That was what a seller of 2026 World Cup stickers faced on the night of Thursday, June 18 on Las Acacias street, in the commune of Estación Central, Santiago, after arranging a supposed sale through social media.

The buyers turned out to be criminals. When the meeting reached its most tense point, they pulled out the gun, fired four times to intimidate him, and began loading the boxes of sticker packs into their own vehicle. Up to that point, everything was going according to plan. What they did not anticipate was the victim’s reaction: instead of running away, he approached the robbers’ car, opened the trunk, and recovered at least three boxes of stickers while the bullets still echoed through the neighborhood. The criminals escaped, yes, but only with the vendor’s wallet and about 50,000 pesos in cash.

Carabineros OS9 personnel arrived at the scene and arrested at least one suspect in the same commune. No one was injured. The incident was recorded on video by neighbors and quickly circulated on social media, revealing just how far the fever for stickers from a World Cup in which Chile is not even participating has gone.
