At 4, John “Jadiant” Quinn was left with 95% of his body burned after a fire in the barn behind his home in Tennessee. It was his sister Leah who pulled him from the flames, and doctors doubted he would make it through the night.
He survived. Then came more than 100 operations.

At 21, already studying medicine, he did something few would dare: he put on Deadpool’s suit and took off the mask. He explained it himself: he wanted to be as authentic as possible. For the character with scarred skin, he showed his own skin. And as if that weren’t enough, he learned to do the splits just for that photo.

He tagged Ryan Reynolds with one hope: that he would see the post. Thousands of followers helped him keep pushing. Months later, the actor replied: “Oh my God, Jadiant, this made my year. I can’t even describe what this post means to me”. And he capped it off with humor: he can do the splits too, but only once a year and in a hospital lobby.
Quinn replied that he couldn’t believe he’d seen it. Meanwhile, he continued pursuing his goal of becoming a doctor.
