Police have revealed the grim photographs of the fortress where Vincent Agar, an 80-year-old man, operated a true house of horrors.

The images show trapdoors and reinforced doors that the attacker installed to prevent his victims from escaping and patrol officers from getting in. Between 1998 and 2000, this man subjected two women to brutal methods of physical punishment inside a gloomy basement in the city of Middlesbrough.

After fleeing to Thailand for decades, justice caught up with him at Durham Crown Court, where he was sentenced to 19 years in prison. The photos expose biological remains and an environment designed for confinement and pain that has finally been dismantled.
