Autumn came into the world without one of her front legs.
No one told her that was a problem. This 3-year-old dachshund learned to walk, run, and play with the three legs she had, without asking anyone’s permission to be happy. But one day her life filled with color: thanks to Bionic Pets, Derrick Campana’s company specializing in prosthetics for animals, Autumn began collecting new legs. Not one, but several — each with its own personality.
She has a bright red octopus tentacle for posing, a yellow duck foot for costume afternoons, a dinosaur crest to feel invincible, and even a galactic purple shade that looks like it came from another planet. Each prosthetic is designed for a different activity: swimming, running, playing, or simply bringing a smile to whoever sees her.
Autumn doesn’t need any of this to be happy. But every time she puts on a new prosthetic, she reminds the world that missing a leg was never an obstacle to having a full life.
