A tiny elephant just three days old endured a true ordeal after being swept almost five kilometers downstream by the powerful current of the Teesta River in West Bengal, India.
Last Monday, five fishermen watched as the calf struggled desperately to stay afloat. Without hesitation, the men alerted the Forest Service and set off to rescue it in their own boat. After bringing the little one to safety, they traveled upstream for two hours until they found the distraught mother, from whom the calf had been separated by the force of the water.
Their reunion was pure love: the mother ran toward her calf, accepted it immediately, and began nursing it before they returned to the herd together. ❤️🐾
