Robyn weighed 328 grams at birth, a third of a bag of sugar. She was born in Newport, Wales, at 23 weeks and two days, so small that she fit in the palm of a hand. Doctors wrapped her in a sandwich bag so her organs would not lose heat while a ventilator breathed for her.

For months, Chantelle and Daniel took turns doing 12-hour shifts by her bedside at Grange Hospital and later at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff.

Robyn overcame sepsis, 16 blood transfusions, and dozens of episodes in which she stopped breathing. “I didn’t know if each breath would be her last”, her mother said. Even so, she reached her first birthday weighing 7 kilos, surrounded by balloons and the love of a family that never let her go.

Months later, after 558 days in the hospital, Robyn finally returned home. But on November 2, 2024, at just one year and seven months old, she said goodbye forever.

Her story remained as a reminder of how much a tiny heart can endure, and how much a family that never stopped believing in her can love.
