Mayah Zamora was 10 years old when she survived the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, 2022. She spent 66 days hospitalized and endured more than 20 surgeries for injuries to her arms, hands, chest, and back.
When she was finally discharged, another blow awaited her: her house was just a few blocks from the shooter’s home. Going back there was not an option for her or her family.
That’s when Bad Bunny stepped in. Together with his Good Bunny Foundation, former Astros player Carlos Correa, and the duo Wisin & Yandel, they raised funds to give Mayah a new, fully furnished home in a place where she could finally sleep peacefully. Before that, the Puerto Rican singer invited her to his show at AT&T Stadium, posed with her backstage, and signed a T-shirt for her. Weeks earlier, at an Astros game in Houston, Mayah had thrown the ceremonial first pitch as a tribute to her bravery. 🐰❤️
