A pitcher hits the batter with the ball. The batter angrily walks toward the mound, as baseball tradition dictates when someone is looking for a fight. But instead of shoving, the Portland Pickles —an Oregon collegiate team— had a different script.
The night was called ‘Heated Riv-Dill-ry,’ a nod to the HBO series ‘Heated Rivalry,’ and everything was choreographed: to the rhythm of a t.A.T.u. song, the pitcher and batter melted into a kiss in front of hundreds of families at Walker Stadium in Lents Park.
The Batter was fed up and blew up.

The player who acted as the pitcher, known on social media as J.P. Hardy, is openly gay and celebrated the moment on his Instagram. The clip blew up on TikTok and divided the internet: some applauded it as a gesture of inclusion, while others dismissed it as an unnecessary show, especially with several children present. 🫣⚾
