Bandit wasn’t smiling in that cage.
His face at the shelter almost said “thanks for visiting me, have a nice life” — the sad farewell of a dog who watched families pass by without any of them choosing him. The dull eyes, the drooping ears, that stillness of someone who had already grown used to being left behind.
Today, Bandit lives with his family, sleeps with a Stitch plushie that he won’t let go of even at the beach, and watches the sunsets with the same expression he once had when he could only stare at concrete walls. His owners take him everywhere because, they say, animals deserve to see the world too.
All it took was one opportunity for that sad dog to become the happiest companion in the house.
