Mauro, 21, had spent four years cleaning windshields at the corner of Alem and San Lorenzo, in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. There, sitting on the sidewalk, his 6-year-old daughter Guadalupe did her schoolwork while her dad worked under the sun.
A neighbor named Álvaro Romero saw them, took a photo, and wrote on Facebook: “That little girl deserves every opportunity. Let’s help”.
The image was shared thousands of times until it reached Agustín, a regular customer at that traffic light, who offered Mauro formal employment as a construction worker’s assistant.
Today, the family has their own home, Ruth (28) found work cleaning homes, and Guadalupe and her brother Santiago go to school. “Before, if it rained, we didn’t eat”, Mauro recalls. Now he dreams of buying a motorcycle to take his daughter to class.
