Jake Paul is still recovering. A double jaw fracture, two surgeries, titanium plates, and months without even being able to spar, all after Anthony Joshua knocked him out in December 2025 in Las Vegas.
In the midst of that, Paul publicly asked to get in the ring against Canelo Álvarez. The response did not take long. While promoting his October 31, 2026 fight against Christian Mbilli, the Mexican champion delivered a remark that sums up everything he thinks: “He is a showman and he has done very well, but being a real fighter is different”.
There were no insults or shouting. Just one line that draws the difference between spectacle and real boxing, right when Paul most needed to show that he can be the latter.
