Ben Affleck won an Oscar, directed award-winning movies, and yet there’s one place where he’s not in charge: the voice chat in his online games.
The actor shared the story on the *New Heights* podcast, laughing. He plays video games online, feels pretty good about his skills, and then his opponents show up: kids just 12 years old who beat him mercilessly. “I think I’m good and then they tear me apart”, he admitted. The worst part comes afterward, because some of those kids make fun of him over the microphone. And Affleck, far from ignoring them, talks back to defend his skills. The result: unexpected arguments between a Hollywood star and a preteen who just beat him.

But video games don’t just test his patience. They also gave him an idea for his work. Affleck revealed that the eye-catching outfits in *Fortnite* inspired him to design the look of one of the characters in *Animals*, his thriller. The clue came from his son Samuel, who plays the game and knows all the skins you can use in it.

Turns out, the next time a 12-year-old beats him in a game, Ben Affleck will have material for the script.
