For nearly a week, several corners of Los Angeles had the same mystery spray-painted across them: the words ‘BEN AFFLECK’ superimposed over the Aflac logo. No one knew whether it was a joke, a tribute, or the work of some rogue fan with a can of spray paint.

Until TMZ caught him red-handed. On Tuesday, September 1, they photographed Ben Affleck himself painting one of those billboards in an alley, wearing a beanie and hoodie, as if he were just another anonymous nighttime graffiti artist.

The explanation came hours later: it wasn’t vandalism; it was the launch of an official campaign. Through his production company Artists Equity, Affleck will star in and direct Aflac’s new ads, which will run through the summer of 2027. The joke that set it all off, according to the producers themselves, was simply how similar ‘Affleck’ and ‘Aflac’ sound.
