Look at this image carefully. 👀
A baby macaque, newly born, abandoned by his own mother. Alone, helpless, in a cold basket, with no one to hold him.
The keepers at Ichikawa Zoo in Japan didn’t know what else to do. So they gave him the only thing they had on hand: a giant orangutan stuffed animal.
And something happened that no one expected.
That stuffed animal became his mother. His refuge. The only place in the world where that little being felt safe enough to sleep, to cry, to survive.
I don’t know about you, but when I see this photo, I can’t help thinking that none of this was a coincidence. 🙏
That when life abandons us in the cruelest way, something or someone always — ALWAYS — appears to hold us up, even if it doesn’t come in the form we expected.
This little one had no mother… but he had a miracle in the shape of a stuffed animal.
Today, months later, Punch (that’s his name) no longer needs the stuffed animal. He learned to trust, made real friends, and lives surrounded by his own troop.
