Stephen “Kiki” Ramos was born in Haiti, and his life changed when he was adopted by an Argentine family. He grew up in the country from a young age, developed as a soccer player at Vélez Sarsfield, and began making his way as one of the club’s promising young talents.
He has now received his first official call-up to Argentina’s Under-17 National Team, a huge step for his career and for a story that brings together adoption, identity, and soccer. His call-up also drew attention because he is the first soccer player born in Haiti to be called up to an Albiceleste youth national team.
Today, he is wearing the colors of the country where he grew up and found a family. For many, his story is moving not only because of his talent, but because of everything that had to happen before he could take the field wearing the Argentine crest.
