It was 9 at night in Bogotá, Colombia, when a 2-year-old boy was left hanging from the edge of a balcony. He had climbed up using some brick blocks on the wall, alone, because his dad had gone out with his brother to buy cigarettes.
Below, several neighbors saw the scene and did not hesitate for a second. They ran to gather blankets, jackets, and warm clothing, and set up an improvised net just in time. The boy fell from the third floor and landed on that fabric held up by unfamiliar hands.

Officer Javier Cárdenas, of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, confirmed that the little boy was taken to a medical center and had no fractures or serious injuries. That night, six strangers became the difference between a tragedy and a miracle.
