Little Dusty’s health remains under a guarded prognosis after a household accident in which cake decorating powder obstructed his lungs.
The incident happened while his mother was preparing a birthday cake, and the child accidentally inhaled a powdered coloring used in baking. This product has the physical characteristic of turning into a thick paste when it comes into contact with ambient moisture or, in this case, inside the lungs, immediately blocking the airways.
The family traveled from Gold Coast to a specialized hospital in Brisbane, where surgeons performed a deep lung cleaning in an attempt to save Dusty’s life. He is currently in an induced coma.
