Davi is 3 years old and has a beautiful obsession: every week, he waits for the garbage truck as one waits for their best friends.
When his mom, Rafaela Miranda, asked him how he wanted to celebrate his birthday, he did not hesitate. He wanted to have breakfast with “the garbage guys”.
On July 7, in Goiás, Brazil, the table was set: coffee, juices, bread, fruit, and a cake decorated with a miniature garbage truck. When the real truck turned the corner and the workers got out to greet him, Davi became so nervous that he felt shy. They hugged him as if it were their birthday too.
“It’s his birthday, but the gift is ours”, Rafaela wrote on Instagram, thanking the collectors for the daily affection they show her son.
The video has already crossed borders, and for good reason: it reminds us that there are jobs almost no one notices, until a 3-year-old teaches everyone how to show gratitude.
