Zahara Jolie-Pitt, 21, and her brother Maddox, 24, filed a petition in a California court to remove the surname Pitt from their names. They did so in writing, through public notices that ran four times in a Los Angeles newspaper between June and July.
According to sources close to the family cited by the Daily Mail, Brad Pitt, 62, decided not to oppose it. He knows that doing so would only make things worse. “He will always respect his children’s decisions”, a source said, although they acknowledge that any parent would be hurt to feel pushed aside like that.
