Felicia Hambrick was caring for her best friend’s 3 children when the family dog managed to get out of a room and lunged at her. At that moment, she was holding an 8-month-old baby in her arms and decided to protect her with her own body.
The animal knocked her down, but Felicia prevented the little girl from hitting her head when she fell. She then stayed between the dog and the baby while being bitten and scratched. The other 2 children, ages 6 and 3, were nearby, watching television when it all happened.
Her friend’s mother arrived and tried to drive the dog away with a broom until they were finally able to get it out. Felicia was taken to receive medical attention. The baby survived because, at the most dangerous moment, someone decided not to let go of her.
