In 2018, a 30-year-old woman was walking down a street in Ontario, Canada, when she was shot at close range in an incident that could have cost her her life.

However, doctors discovered something shocking: her silicone breast implants deflected the bullet and prevented the projectile from striking her heart directly.

According to the medical report published in 2020 by specialists led by surgeon Giancarlo McEvenue, the bullet passed through both implants and ended up lodged near her right breast, causing her only minor injuries and a fractured rib. The unusual case went viral because, quite literally, her implants ended up saving her life.
