Briel Adams-Wheatley was born in São Paulo without arms or legs.

Hanhart syndrome, a genetic condition so rare that there are barely any documented cases in the world, left her body this way from the very first second of her life.

She was given up for adoption, grew up in a Mormon family in Utah, and for years no one would have imagined that this body would end up at the center of a viral love story.

She met Adam on Tinder in 2020, when she still presented as a man. They got married in 2022. A year later, Briel confessed something she had kept hidden since before the wedding: she was a trans woman. Adam did not leave. He publicly said that he had fallen in love with the person in front of him, not with a gender label, and that since then he has seen her more confident and more herself than ever.

Today Briel has more than 1 million followers on Instagram and 5 million on TikTok, and in August 2026 the couple celebrated five years of marriage with a second wedding.
